Public Works Foreman

The town of Rothesay is currently seeking applications from qualified persons for the permanent full-time position of Public Works Foreman.

Reporting to the Public Works Coordinator and working as a team with the Public Works Coordinator and other Foremen, this position is responsible for supervising a works crew and carrying out assigned day-to-day responsibilities. Employees of this classification are responsible for the safe and efficient maintenance of Town infrastructure including roads, streets, sidewalks, drainage and operation of the Town Works facilities and equipment. The Public Works Foreman performs various maintenance and construction activities and is required to be on an on-call schedule.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of ten years’ experience in municipal operations including the operation of heavy equipment such as front end loaders, backhoes, trucks and a variety of equipment for snow removal.  Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent (completion of Community College in a related field is desirable).  A valid New Brunswick Driver’s License Class 3 (preferably with air certificate Class 3E) is required. Knowledge of the principles of safely operating Town-owned equipment and public works systems and the ability to apply Standard Operating Procedures and policies of Rothesay is required.  The ability to operate electronic equipment such as computers and understand and use relevant software applications is required.  The successful candidate will have physical strength and agility sufficient to do strenuous labouring tasks under varying weather conditions and must be prepared to work overtime when required. Student Employment Opportunities

The town of Rothesay has employment opportunities available for the following positions.  The application deadline is April 1, 2017.

Parks Department


Parks Labourers

Student full-time casual positions required for April-May to August-September.

Duties include mowing lawns and garden care, maintenance of public grounds, ball fields and playgrounds, and other duties as assigned.

 

Recreation Department

Lifeguards

Student full-time casual positions required for June to August.

Lifeguards are responsible for the supervision, safety and well-being of patrons who use the beach area designated for community use, educating the public in the safe use of recreational water, instruction of swim programs and responsible for daily maintenance of beach, buoys, rafts, and equipment.  Current certification is required.

 

Playground Counselors  

Student full-time casual positions required for June to August.

Playground Counselors are responsible for the general operation of the playground programs, the direct supervision and safety of all children enrolled in the summer programs, aiding in the planning and implementation of weekly programs for children.

 

To qualify for student positions applicants must be a current full-time student and will be returning to school full-time in the fall.  All student applicants must complete the provincial government SEED Program student application.  Register online at www.NBseed.ca by March 31, 2017.
