Rothesay Receives $28 Million Investment for Wastewater and Housing Infrastructure
The Governments of Canada and New Brunswick, in partnership with the Town of Rothesay, have announced a joint investment of more than $28 million to upgrade Rothesay’s wastewater treatment facility and build the infrastructure needed to support a new seniors’ housing development.
The announcement was made today by Secretary of State Wayne Long, Minister Alyson Townsend, and Mayor Matt Alexander.
The investment covers two projects:
The first supports Phase 2B of the new wastewater treatment facility on Maliseet Drive, upgrading the facility with ultraviolet disinfection technology to increase Rothesay’s capacity to treat and manage wastewater.
The second involves the installation of water, wastewater, and stormwater pipes on Villa Madonna Road to support the construction of Legacy Village — a seniors’ housing development that will enable up to 89 new housing units in Rothesay.
“Rothesay has been committed to becoming a truly age-friendly community for nearly a decade. This investment means that the people who built this community, who raised their families here and gave so much to this town, can stay right here as they enter the next chapter of their lives.”
