Notice: Removal date for ice-fishing shelters 2026

The removal date for ice-fishing shelters has been announced by the Government of New Brunswick. Ice-fishing shelters must be removed from all waterways at the first sign of thaw, and no later than March 15, 2026.

Owners are responsible for removing their structures before the deadline to prevent environmental hazards resulting from waste and debris entering waterways. They must also clear away all trash and debris. Ice fishers have a duty to ensure that no harm is done to the environment.
