Final roster for the province’s Canada Games teams announced

29 January 2019

FREDERICTON (GNB) – Team New Brunswick has announced the final rosters of the 20 teams that will represent the province at the 2019 Canada Winter Games taking place Feb.15 – March 3 in Red Deer, Alta.

“New Brunswick will be well represented and ready to compete against the nation’s best athletes at the 2019 Canada Winter Games,” said Tourism, Heritage and Culture Minister Robert Gauvin. “New Brunswickers should be proud of this team that is composed of talented athletes and para-athletes.”

Team New Brunswick held its rally and salute earlier this month to provide final briefings to the teams and to unveil the ceremonial uniform. Atlantic Lottery Corp., a longtime sponsor, presented a cheque for $20,000 at the rally as part of its ongoing support.

“I encourage all New Brunswickers to proudly cheer on our team members as they compete in Red Deer,” said Team New Brunswick chef de mission Nicole Smith, who is leading the team for the second consecutive Canada Games. “I know all participants will enjoy their Canada Games experience.”

The Canada Games alternate every two years between summer and winter games and are one of the largest multi-sport events held in the country, featuring 19 sports, more than 150 events and up to 3,600 athletes, coaches and managers. Team New Brunswick will be represented by 200 athletes, 65 coaches, managers and technical staff and 20 mission team members.

Sports on the competition calendar for New Brunswick include alpine skiing, para alpine skiing, artistic gymnastics, artistic swimming, archery, badminton, biathlon, boxing, cross-country skiing, para Nordic skiing, curling, figure skating, hockey, judo, ringette, speedskating, squash, trampoline and wheelchair basketball.

A complete roster for Team New Brunswick is available online.
