Heat Alert Level 2 Issued for August 2nd

A Heat Alert (LEVEL 2) is being issued for August 2, 2018, for St. Stephen and Northern Charlotte County,  Sussex – Kennebecasis Valley and Kings County.The alert will remain in effect for August 2, 2018 only.  Alert levels are based on the highest reasonable predictions at the time of issuance and on data specific to St. Stephen and Northern Charlotte County,  Sussex – Kennebecasis Valley and Kings County.

HARS heat alerts are issued as early as possible the day before the alert days and can be reissued if conditions warrant.

Everyone is at risk of heat illnesses when a level 2 is reached. The heat should be taken into consideration if physical activities are to be undertaken.

Those most at risk for heat illness include adults over 65, children 4 years-old and under, people who are overweight or obese, people taking some prescription or over-the-counter medications and those with certain chronic medical conditions.  Care should be taken to ensure that those who are at risk are monitored and cared for regularly.
