2025 Removal Date for Ice-Fishing Shelters Announced
March 6, 2025
Removal date for ice-fishing shelters has been announced by the Government of New Brunswick. Ice-fishing shelters must be removed from all provincial waterways at the first sign of thaw, and no later than March 15, 2025.
The barricades at Renforth Wharf will be temporarily opened on Friday, March 7, from 10 AM to 4 PM to allow the removal of ice fishing shelters. Please note that only all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) will be permitted on the ice to tow shelters. Cars, trucks, tow trucks, and other vehicles will not be allowed through the barricades.
Owners are responsible for removing their structures before the deadline to prevent environmental hazards resulting from waste and debris entering the province’s waterways. They must also clear away all trash and debris. Ice fishers have a duty to ensure that no harm is done to the environment.
