Townhall

Rothesay operates under a Town Council/Town Manager form of government. There have been recent changes to the Municipalities Act wherein Town Council is now elected to a four year term of office (Bill 43).  Town Council is elected by the citizens (held May 12, 2008) and is responsible for making the major policy decisions.  The Town Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations and administration of the Town and reports directly to Rothesay Council. Council members represent Rothesay as representatives on external boards and agencies, as do the Town Manager and senior staff members.

The current Town Hall was constructed in 1991 and, along with Town staff, also houses the administration offices for School District 6.

Rothesay currently employs 37 permanent, full-time employees, as well as 5 casual labourers.  During the summer months, Town staff more than doubles in number to accommodate supervision of the summer recreation programs, along with the parks and fields maintenance.
